✨🍇A very Brownie… New Year’s ! 🍇✨

As I’ve showed in previous posts, Brownie has had a blast celebrating his first Christmas in Spain. He’s been my best buddy! Some parts have been a bit of a culture shock, like no presents from Santa or eating grapes for New Year’s… but it’s been lots of fun!

For New Year’s, we ate our 12 grapes at 00.00 and on the 1st we cleaned the house together, burned some cleansing herbs, and then we watched the Vienna concert… best traditions!!

We still need to write our resolutions!! We’re running late!!

🎄✨A very Brownie Christmas ✨🎄

So… what better way to introduce my new best friend and comfort plush, Brownie, who arrived home a week ago thanks to the wonderful @gaelsstuffiehome than to show you our first Christmas together?

I’m sure this little guy will have a blast discovering new places and traditions! Would you like to come with us? :)

Today is Christmas Eve, and here is where we start.

Brownie had quite a lazy morning while I went to the swimming pool (got to exercise a little!!). As it’s a holiday, I allowed him to stay in his pjs ;p

After I came back home (lots of last minute shopping!) I had lunch and he joined me for some cuddles and colouring!!.

We then had some coffee but… come on you lazy bum!! It’s time to get dressed!!! You want to look handsome at dinner time, don’t you?

Ahhhhh~ that’s much better! ✨

Now it’s time to put the last decorations and cook dinner! But…

Wait Brownie!! Don’t eat the salmon yet! We have to wait till everything is ready.

Bears and salmon, you know… but don’t worry, he was only testing because he wanted to make sure everything was the right quality (spoiler: it was!).

Better now~! Time for dinner and a good Christmas tv show!! We love those around here.

We also lit up a candle for those who are not with us anymore. Brownie’s learned that it has been quite a tragic year both for our family and country, but he’s said that we don’t have to worry now that he’s with us… he’ll chase the scaries away!

Finally, after some dancing and a hot chocolate, it’s time to go to bed!!! What adventures will be awaiting him tomorrow??? ✨

🎄✨A very brownie Christmas (P.2) ✨🎄

Wake up Brownie, it’s Christmas!!

Oh dear!!! I fell asleep!!! Has Santa come??

Well, not exactly buddy. You see… Santa does come around here, but I’d rather leave all his hard work for the little children. The true stars of Christmas around here are the three kings, and they won’t come in until later!

But you don’t need to feel disappointed, because I have prepared a surprise for you~

We had a delicious pizza lunch, and, first surprise of the day! Brownie got to meet some of my little cousins! It was a surprise even for me. They are wonderful children, so much fun and cuddly. Sadly, they couldn’t stay for long.

But, if I hadn’t expected that visit… what was my Christmas surprise for Brownie?

Cinema tickets!!! We went to my favourite shopping centre to watch Wicked with the bf. We saw the Christmas decorations, ordered arepas for dinner (my favourites!) and then watched the film.

It was soooo good, had me tearing up at some points.

One of the best parts of being brave and taking Brownie with me is that he’s making so many people smile! As many others have said, going out in public with a stuffie friend brings far more positive reactions than negative ones. People either don’t care or love it! And that’s awesome!

But back to our adventures…

Yep! That’s the carwash!!! Before going back home, we went for a quick late night run to the petrol station because there was an accident with the sewers at the shopping centre!! 😱 I won’t go into detail, but let’s say that the car really needed it, and it was a fun way the end the night anyway!

Irwin had an absolutely AMAZING time at Disney this weekend! We were on our feet all day, meeting with friends and checking out places like Disney Springs and the Disney Character Warehouse, so it was important we started our day off with some strong coffee and snacks!

Irwin also tried to help me find a nice Mickey shirt, but nothing was very interesting in my size! At least we got him some nice Mickey ears before we made our way to the Disney parks!

But before we went to Hollywood Studios to meet someone VERY special indeed, Irwin asked us if we could check out the Christmas display at one of the Disney hotels, and BoardWalk Villas had some super cute stuff!

And when the time came, Irwin was a bit nervous waiting in line, so ShellieMay came along for moral support! She also wanted to finally collect her very first Disney pin, and we found her a sweet one with Winnie the Pooh! A special Duffy-themed snack also pleased everyone!

And then the big moment arrived! We were all very nervous, but Irwin was the bravest and told Santa Duffy exactly what he wanted for Christmas. It might be to come back, but he wouldn't say later.

Irwin was soooo sleepy by the time we finished everything close to midnight, but he already wants to go back! If you'd like me to take Irwin on more adventures at the Disney Parks, let me know!!

I'll have to share my plush haul from this weekend next, so look for that perhaps tomorrow!

Hello and Happy Tuesday, everyone! Well, we can at least try to be happy on a Tuesday. Easier said than done, but maybe we'll all find some moments here and there.

Nelly has been adopted! Gael is so happy this sweet Build a Bear finally found a new home. Nelly is thrilled, too, and he's bringing his cute jammies (and maybe some surprises!) along for the adventure!

I can't even find the right way to express how happy it makes Gael and I, not to mention everyone else here at Gael's Stuffie Home, that these two are starting their own blog! We adopted them out just a couple of weeks ago, and they're already having the best time in their new home. It's the best part of our adoption home for old stuffed animals. Speaking of which, everyone currently listed at our Etsy shop is still 25% off, so come say hello!

My brother, Roth, and I made it to our new home! We are currently lounging on the couch, making ourselves right at home as we acclimate to our new surroundings and city. We must warm up from our chilly travels!

The other day, I wrote about how Gael came to us, and why she decided to open Gael's Stuffie Home, our adoption center for old and loved-before stuffed animals. I thought for Part 2 I could tell you more about each member of her team!

Gael: Head of the shop, but she just helps organize things and gives her team jobs to do. Sometimes, she can get a little bossy, but she always means well and listens if you tell her to calm down a little. Being a floppy bear can be very stressful sometimes!

Itty Bitty: Small, light-brown bear who made friends with Gael as they were both adopted around the same time! Itty Bitty loves to climb just about everywhere, and that can sometimes be a problem for our larger plushies! She loves boba tea and telling Gael what she would differently if she were in charge. Gael’s very best friend and Itty feels the same way!

Oddwin: Small, orange/sandy-colored bear with a UK flag on his foot and a bit of a grumpy attitude. He can be very set in his ways and very, very stubborn, but always does the right thing when his friends need him to be there. He makes up a lot of facts about England because he doesn’t actually know very much about it.

Niel and Oak: A brown bear in purple Halloween BOO pajamas, holding a smaller brown bear in a Devil costume. Both are always ready for spooky times and Halloween, but any excuse to be with the people they love is just fine with them! Oak is a baby who rarely speaks, and he trusts Niel to take care of him. We think they’re siblings but don’t know for sure.

Arnold: Massive vintage Daekor teddy bear. Very old, sweet, and a bit on the slow side. He doesn’t understand a lot of things, but he knows that he loves helping Gael and meeting new stuffies and bears. Loves to have smaller bears crawl on him like a playground because it makes him feel useful. Everyone absolutely adores and protects him from mean or sad things at all costs. Very mysterious life prior to being found by Gael at a thrift store in Florida, completely alone.

Kanga: Small Gund plush based on the classic Winnie the Pooh design. Very thoughtful and surprised to find herself helping out at Gael’s Home. The other bears and stuffed animals in our house make her a bit nervous, but Gael and the others are helping with her social anxiety, and she can almost always say good morning now. She’s very proud of this and loves to help with the shop, despite the surprise.

Welcome back to our third and final part where we learn all about Gael's Stuffie Home and meet the various plushies who help her each and every day! Click here for part 1 and Gael's own story, and click here for part 2 where we meet the first members of her team!

While she's resting a bit as we get ready for new listings this Friday at 12 Noon EST, let's meet the others!

Trumpet: An odd little multicolor elephant from Avon and their Full of Beans line! He came to us from another adoption home, as did a few others of Gael’s friends, so he understands how important it is for the stuffed animals who come to the home to feel as calm and safe as possible. This has made him something of an expert on the best blanket and snack combos for stuffies who are sad or scared. He might be a little too cheerful sometimes for some of our grumpier stuffed animals, but everyone loves him all the same.

Bonnie: A non-binary handmade bee who came to live with us after my wife found them at a craft fair! Bonnie is very     squishy, not soft, so is a little different from the others in the group. Not a problem! We love all sorts of stuffed animals, and Bonnie is a good reminder that friends can come from all sorts of interesting places! Bonnie loves to drink chocolate milk and sometimes provides a lot of calm to some new-arrival stuffies who might be overwhelmed by everything that’s going on.

Winks: While obviously a very good friend, Winks the TY elephant is also perhaps the most argumentative member of Gael’s staff. It’s not that he’s a know-it-all. He just happens to think he’s always right and everyone else is almost always wrong. It would be nice if everyone could just get on board with that. To be sure, Winks does know quite a bit about important things like picking a good go-kart and how to make the best ice cream sundae, but when it comes to things like thrifting or quantum physics, everyone generally agrees Gael is the expert.

Tiny: This poor elephant has always had a bit of an identity crisis. To be clear, Tiny loves being here and loves her friends and family, but she also wishes she knew just a bit more about where she came from. This is something stuffed animals can struggle with sometimes, if they don’t have any tags, and it’s hard to figure out where they might have come from. Tiny doesn’t want this to be the only thing about her, because she loves to visit the ocean and enjoys karaoke and old video games, but someday she would like to learn more about her origins. Gael and the gang help her whenever possible, and maybe someday, we’ll find something!

Freakshow: The story of Freakshow is a bit sadder than the others. He’s very quiet and sometimes gets very anxious around humans, or even other bears, but he’s incredibly kind and loves to spend time in the sun. He enjoys stories and giving hugs to smaller plushies. Gael and I are so glad we were able to rescue him from a haunted house that had glued a horrible mask to his face. Then someone threw him in a pile of old broken things the haunted house wasn’t using anymore, and that’s how we found him. We brought him home and learned that the mask could not be removed without severely damaging his face. In the two years he’s lived here, he’s learned to love the way he looks, even if it’s very different, and he picked the name Freakshow because he wants others to know there’s nothing wrong with being a freak. In fact, he sometimes says very, very softly, being a freak is actually pretty amazing.

Freddy & Chica: Found on the floor of a Dave and Busters arcade. Freddy and Chica try to cause murder and mayhem wherever they go, but they’re extremely small size, soft bodies, and lack of functional limbs makes it almost impossible to do anything more elaborate than growl once in a while. When they aren’t wee little harbingers of doom, they like to watch horror movies and love to help Gael make snacks for some of the older stuffed toys in the home.

And that's our team! Gael's Stuffie Home opened almost three years ago, and in that time, I've watched Gael make so many neat friends, while finding homes for every sort of old stuffed animal you can imagine. I can't wait for you to see what we're going to do next, and I thank you for coming along with us!

As we get ready for another set of listings this week, I thought it was high time you all met Gael and her team, and maybe learn a bit about them!

Gael the Mary Meyer Bear loves to help out. She loves traveling, trying new snacks, and making new friends wherever she goes.

One thing Gael doesn’t like to talk about very much is where she came from. That’s because she misses her original human, who grew up, and dropped Gael off at a thrift store. The only other thing we know for sure is that Gael eventually ended up at a place that took old stuffed animals like her and found them new homes.

And that’s how she came to live with my wife and I, as well as our huge family of teddy bears, unicorns, dragons, and lots of other stuffed animals.

With our family, playing with all the bears and dragons and other animals in our personal collection, Gael learned so much about herself. She discovered she loves to sit in pockets and watch the world. She found that she loves going to the movies. She had a lovely time discovering neat things about herself with our family, but she still felt a little restless. She was a bear who thought about all the time she had spent in thrift stores, and how wonderful it was that some humans wanted to help them too.

So, she decided to do everything she could to help stuffies who wanted to leave their thrift store and find new homes and families.

Hundreds of plushies later, Gael’s Home is still finding new families for all sorts of stuffed animals. Some need a bath. Some need repairs. Everyone gets to stay and play with everyone in our house, until they are ready to find their new home and be listed at our Etsy shop. We never list anyone who does not want to leave.

There are lots of places that offer previously-loved stuffed animals. Gael’s Home is just one of those places, but we all hope to help in our own small way. This is something Gael loves to do, and I love being the weird, old human who gives her a hand. Having floppy arms can make it very hard to type, I’ve been told!

In a couple of days, I'll tell you more about each member of Gael's team! She's picked up some very interesting plushies over the past few years, and I hope you'll enjoy meeting them in greater detail!

It's hard to fully convey how happy it makes me, Gael, and everyone whenever we get pictures of the stuffed animals from Gael's Stuffie Home! Bearald was treasured while he was with us. He deserves the best and he has it!

recently my good friend bearald made it to my house, and he's settled in wonderfully! he's very cuddly and I tuck him in every day before school- he's told me he's more nocturnal than anything, so he naps during the day and watches over our bed at night!

he immediately became very close with my bear checkmate, who I rescued from a thrift store!

he definitely rules over my plushie closet, where stuffies go when I don't have room for them on my bed but want them nearby! I think he's a little spoiled, all tucked in like that, but don't tell him !

when he arrived, we noticed a few holes in his sweater, so I told him i'd patch it up and make it just like new! of course I couldn't leave him without any clothes, so we made do with the doll clothes we have ^^" he seemed a little grumpy with my choice of clothes, but I think he secretly likes it, because the sweater has been patched and he won't take it off! he's having a lovely time here!! and for anyone curious I got him from @gaelsstuffiehome!!

Finally! I can tell everyone about Gael's amazing thrift rescue this week! It all started when she met a vintage Gund kangaroo who really wanted to come to Gael's Stuffie Home!

But there was a problem! Her baby was missing! Gael just couldn't accept this, and she set to work on finding the kangaroo's baby!

She looked everywhere, and refused to give up, certain she could track the little one down! I tried to help as much as I could!

And then, success! Gael found the baby! I couldn't believe it!

Reunited with her baby, we're so happy these two were able to come home with us 😊
